Over the years I’ve developed a deep love and appreciation for nature, particularly plants as conduits to a deeper understanding of my surroundings, not to mention their often otherworldly beauty. Whether at home in tropical Miami or wandering the forests of a far away place, I can always look to plants for guidance and steady fuel for my creativity and curiosity.
Growing up with studio art and photography classes engrained a fascination with light and form, and after returning from Chile in 2019 I picked up a few oil pastels on a trip to the art supply store. I was in search of Japanese watercolors inspired by a nature walk and botanical drawing exercise conducted by my friend, Chilote artist Paola López, but instead happened upon a medium of my own.
